CLASS 1 Lecture Summary

Just a summary of what we covered. We told stories about ourselves and looked at stories told in short film and music videos. In every good story, we will have:
  • exposition or status quo (situation at the start of the story, introduction of the characters, setting)
  • rising action or conflict (antagonist and protagonists are identified)
  • a climax (the turning point, point of highest emotional interest)
  • falling action or return to status quo(winding down)
  • resolution.
Can we identify any of these plot points in any of the videos we watched in Class #1?

Eminem - "Not Afraid"

Eminem - "Love the Way You Lie" ft. Rihanna

"Bridge"

"Roof"

Use this exercise to hone your abilities in identifying plot points and use this technique to organize your own story, so that you can summarize that story within your 12 picture limit.

Your grade for this assignment will be based on Composition of photos(.5 point), lighting(.5 point), consistency of the themes in your photos(1 point), and most importantly the flow of the sequence and selection of your photos in telling your story (3 points) [Total=5 Marks].

Remember Assignment is due Friday Midnight. Past due assignments will not be graded.

I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
